The short version: ScanME collects nothing. It has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and it contains no networking code. Nothing you scan leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, store, transmit or sell personal information, usage data, device identifiers, crash reports or advertising identifiers. We cannot see what you scan, and we have no way to know that you use the app at all.

How your pages are handled

Photographs you take or choose are processed entirely on your device. The machine-learning models that crop, flatten and relight a page are bundled inside the app and run locally. The app works in aeroplane mode, and works identically whether or not you have a network connection.

Finished pages exist only where you put them: on screen, and in your photo library if you save one. Nothing is cached on a server because there is no server.

Permissions the app asks for

• Camera — to photograph a page. The camera is used only while you have the capture screen open, and frames are not recorded.
• Add to Photos — to save a finished page to your photo library when you tap Save. This is add-only access: the app cannot read, browse or delete your library with it.

Choosing an existing photo uses Apple's system picker, which hands the app only the single image you pick. The app is never given access to the rest of your library.

Tips and purchases

Tips are optional in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. Apple processes the payment; we receive Apple's aggregate sales reports and never see your name, payment details or any information that identifies you. Tips unlock nothing — the app is identical before and after.

Third parties

There are none. No advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no third-party frameworks that phone home. The only outbound links in the app are to birme.net and pdf.birme.net, which open in your browser only if you tap them.

Children

The app is safe for all ages: since it collects no data, there is no personal information to collect from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Any change that affected how data is handled would also require a new version of the app, reviewed by Apple.
